How do I get my Newborn's Birth Certificate?
Birth records are available in the County Clerk's Office approximately one to two weeks following the date of birth, but can take up to a month. You will need to fill out an application provided by the County Clerk to obtain a copy of the birth certificate. This can be found on the Birth/Death Certificates page.
What is the difference between a short form and long form Birth Certificate?
Short Form or Abstract Form will only show current information for the individual’s name, date of birth, place of birth, sex, and name of parent(s). This form will not show a history of corrections.
Long Form is most comprehensive certified birth record. It is a copy of the original birth certificate. It will also show a history of corrections that have been made to the birth record.
Can I get a long form Birth Certificate here?
Long form certificates can only be obtained in the county of birth or from the Texas Vital Statistics Department.

I made a mistake on the document I filed. How can I correct it?
In Property, once a document has been filed, changes cannot be made. To correct a document, the customer would have to file an "amended" document. A fee will also be charged.

Does your office search for records by phone, or email request?
We do not handle record search requests by phone. Requests can be made via email. Any extensive property searches will need to be done by the customer or a real estate title company through Official Public Records. We do not search for liens under any circumstances.

We do not notarize documents; however, we do acknowledge Assumed Name certificates.
Does your office provide any type of forms?
For Vitals, the only forms we provide are Assumed Name applications and Withdrawal of an Assumed Name. All other forms must be obtained by the customer.
For Property, all forms must be provided by the customer.
For Probate, all forms must be provided by the customer.
For Guardianship, forms can be found on our website.
For Misdemeanor and Civil, all forms must be provided by the customer.
I have a blank document that I need help filling out, can I come down and get help on what to write on the document?
Birth and death records request can have assistance of a clerk in filling out the application due to special circumstance. This is determined on a case-by-case basis.
Formal and Informal Marriage License applications can be found online.

We cannot help with filling out Assumed Name related documents. The document must be completed prior to entering the office. If any help is needed, you will need to contact an attorney or other appropriate entity.
