The Open Space Alliance (OSA) of Rockwall County evolved from the 2011 Master Planning exercise and was formally created in August 2012 by the Rockwall County Commissioners Court. The mission of the OSA is to preserve Rockwall County’s land and natural resources for the benefit of all. OSA started as an umbrella organization that provided a forum for collaborative decision making by representatives from the cities and unincorporated areas of Rockwall County. These actions led to a Rockwall County Open Space Master Plan completed in December 2015. A copy of the Plan may be seen
here.
OSA promotes the protection of the natural storm water drain ways formed by the hills and creeks in Rockwall County. We encourage preservation of open space of natural, historic or geological significance, and support connecting nature areas. The original OSA group formed a 501(c) (3) nonprofit in May 2016 and continues to work to support the goals of the Open Space Master Plan and advocate for the Plan's implementation.
