1. How do I get a Library card?

Stop at the checkout desk to get a library card. Bring photo ID, proof of address, and 2 contact phone numbers. The library is located at 1215 East Yellowjacket Ln. in Rockwall (at the intersection of Yellowjacket and T.L. Townsend, across from the Wilkerson-Sanders stadium). Cards are free for verified Rockwall County residents. For non-residents, there is an annual household fee of $50 per year (or $20 per individual annually for computer use only). 3. How do I become a volunteer at the library?

Teen Volunteers:

Teens interested in volunteering at the library must be at least 13 years of age. For more information about our teen volunteer opportunities and the application instructions please see the Teen Volunteers page under the Youth Services tab on the navigation sidebar.

Adult Volunteers:

Adults interested in volunteering at the Rockwall County Library or individuals needing to complete community service hours should call 972-204-7700 or ask for information at the circulation desk.

4. How many items can I check out and how long can I keep them?

• DVDs, maximum of five per family - 21 days with no renewals
• All other items - 21 days
• Maximum of three books on one subject per family
• Maximum of 30 items total per family

New patrons may check out three items per family on the first day a card is issued, one of which may be a video. After the first three items are returned, they may check out up to 30 items per family.

Children are not eligible to check out DVDs.

Downloadable items do not count toward the maximum per family, however each online service has it's own limits.

7. How can I return material when the library is closed?

24-hour drive-through book drops are located on the west side of the building at the Yellowjacket Lane entrance. There are also walk-up book drops in the entry foyer open during Library hours.

Material returned in a book drop after closing is considered returned the next business day.

8. How do I set up a downloadable audio book or ebook account?

From the main library menu, select "Resources", then "Databases & Downloads" and then "Downloadable eBooks" and then follow the instructions at the vendor links. You will need a Rockwall County Library borrower card with a current account in good standing.

9. What are the rules regarding Internet use at the Library?

10. How do I print from the library's computers?

Documents can be sent to a shared printer upstairs or downstairs. You will release your document from the individual computer and then release it from the printer, where you make your payment of 15 cents per page.

11. How do I borrow a book the library does not have?

You may submit an Interlibrary Loan request at the checkout desk. If we are able to borrow the item for you, you will need to pay a $3 postage fee. The length of the loan is set by the lending library.
