Background
Chief Deputy McKnight is a graduate of Rockwall High School. After high school graduation he attended East Texas State University and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice.
Chief McKnight served most of his career with Rockwall Police Department where he served in various positions, patrol, community services, school resource, and criminal investigations.
He was promoted to patrol sergeant and eventually served as the sergeant over criminal investigations.
Chief McKnight spear headed the start of the Rockwall Police Athletic League where he raised funds and worked with At-Risk Youth in his spare time. The Police Athletic League produced several Golden Gloves Champions.
While at Rockwall Police Department, Chief McKnight was selected as Officer of the Year on two separate occasions, one by his peers and another by a local professional organization.
Chief McKnight served as a sergeant with Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office and a Lieutenant at Caddo Mills Police Department prior to filling the role as Chief Deputy at the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office.
