The Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management will be conducting a full scale emergency exercise at 2:00 pm on February 26, 2014 at Utley Middle School in the city of Rockwall. The full scale exercise scenario consists of a response to an active shooter within the school that results in a mass casualty incident.
The scale and scope of this exercise is unprecedented in Rockwall County. More than fifty public safety responders from every jurisdiction in the county along with dozens of volunteers and other supporting personnel will be participating in the exercise. The purpose of the exercise is to evaluate the countywide emergency response plan while also allowing Rockwall ISD and Presbyterian Hospital the ability to evaluate their internal response plans to this type of event.
Due to the design of the exercise, some members of the public may notice a few unusual activities around the middle school around the time of the exercise including a large number of police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, etc. However, the general public will likely notice no impacts from this exercise.
