To mark National Library Week, April 10 -16, Friends of the Rockwall County Library president Linda Garrett presented Judge Jerry Hogan and the Commissioners Court a facsimile check for $213,670.80 representing the value of more than 10,000 hours of volunteer service to the Library over the past year. Some volunteers shelve books and perform light clerical duties, while others are tutors with the Library’s literacy program, Reading for Adults. These volunteers teach adults in the English as a Second Language program and also tutor adults who want to improve their reading skills. The group also offers Citizenship and GED classes.
