Below are just a few of the local organizations in which citizens of Rockwall County are encouraged to get involved:
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact Rockwall County. For more information or to sign up, please visit the EastTex Regional CERT website at easttexrc.org. Please see the Upcoming Events page for future training dates.
Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI): "Our mission is to develop plans and infrastructure so that we are prepared to provide mass prophylaxis to the entire population within 48 hours of a bioterrorism event." As a CRI volunteer, you would assist in staffing Points of Dispensing (PODs) and distributing information and medication to individuals. Nurses, doctors, pharmacists, and other medical professionals are vital to this process. However, even volunteers without a medical background are desperately needed for this program.
